MF Doom (born July 13, 1971, in London, England; died October 31, 2020[2])—stylized as MF DOOM, born Daniel Dumile—was a British rapper.[3] He performed under many different alter egos. His trademark was a metal face mask. The abbreviation “MF” could stand for “Metal Face,” “Metal Fingers” (Dumile’s producer alias), “Multi-Faced,” “Mic Fiend,” or—as with his former close friend MF Grimm—”Mad Flows.”
Shortly after his birth, his family emigrated to the USA. He lived on Long Island, New York, for most of his life but never obtained US citizenship. In 2010, he was denied re-entry to the country following a European tour. Consequently, he lived in England until his death. He died in 2020 at the age of 49 due to side effects from taking blood pressure medication.
